On September 11, 2001, 2,977 innocent men, women, and children were killed in the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil in our nation’s history. In the two decades since that tragic day, thousands more have died from illnesses stemming from their exposure to toxins on 9/11 and during its aftermath.
Despite the ongoing impact and relevancy of 9/11 and the War on Terror on our world, educators continue to struggle with how to engage a new generation of students who have no lived memory of these events. Teachers need effective and engaging 9/11 teaching materials and they need professional development to help them impart these vital lessons.
To meet these needs, and in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of 9/11, the September 11th Education Trust has revised our September 11th Education Program. The updated curriculum includes two new lessons: 9/11 Health Impacts and Advocacy and The War on Terror. Learn more.
